Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 20, 2026 | Last updated: January 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Athalyze ("Athalyze," "we," "us," "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our mobile applications, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, and account settings/preferences.
  • Profile information: age/date of birth, sex/gender, and other profile fields you choose to provide.
  • Support communications: information you include when you contact us.

1.2 Fitness, health, and activity data

  • Workout/activity data: activities you create, upload, or import, such as activity type, time, distance, pace, power, cadence, heart rate, HRV, sleep, elevation, and similar performance metrics.
  • Route/location data included in files or connected services: Athalyze does not collect your GPS location directly from your device using location permissions. However, workout files you upload (e.g., FIT/GPX/TCX) or data sent from connected services may include route and precise location data. If present, we may store, process, and display that route/location data as part of the Services.

1.3 Connected services and imports

  • Linked accounts: If you connect third-party services (for example, fitness platforms or device services), we receive data that you authorize those services to share with Athalyze. The specific data shared depends on the service and your settings with that service.
  • Manual uploads: You may upload workout files or other data to Athalyze. We process the contents of those files to provide the Services.

1.4 Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, browser type (web), IP address, and basic usage events (e.g., screens viewed, actions taken).
  • Diagnostics and crash reports: we use error/diagnostic tooling (e.g., Sentry) to help identify bugs and improve reliability. Diagnostics may include device and usage data and, depending on configuration, may include IP address and other technical identifiers.

1.5 Payment and subscription data

  • App Store subscriptions (Apple): If you subscribe through Apple, Apple processes payment. We typically receive limited information such as subscription status, product identifiers, and renewal/expiration indicators.
  • Web payments (Stripe): If you purchase through our website, payments may be processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers; payment processors handle sensitive payment details.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Services (including workout history, analytics, and performance features).
  • Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer support.
  • Personalize the Services (e.g., preferences, units, and views).
  • Process subscriptions, detect fraud, and handle billing-related issues.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the performance and security of the Services.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
  • Send product updates and marketing communications (you can opt out at any time).

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers (processors): We use vendors to help operate the Services, such as cloud hosting (e.g., Microsoft Azure (US)), diagnostics/crash reporting (e.g., Sentry), and payment processing (e.g., Apple, Stripe). These vendors are authorized to process information only as needed to provide services to us and are subject to contractual protections.
  • Legal and safety: We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, and security, or to respond to lawful requests.
  • Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • User-directed sharing: If you choose to share information through features we offer (for example, exporting or sharing an activity), we share according to your actions and settings.

4. Social Features

Athalyze includes social features that allow you to compare performance and share information with others. What others can see depends on the feature and your settings.

  • Leaderboards: Athalyze supports leaderboards. Depending on the leaderboard, we may display information such as your display name (or username), profile photo (if you provide one), age group/category (if applicable), and relevant performance results (for example, time, distance, pace, power, steps, or other metrics used to rank participants).
  • Public workouts: You may choose to mark individual workouts as public. If you make a workout public, other users (and potentially non-users) may be able to view information you choose to share, which may include the workout title, date/time, activity type, performance metrics, and route/location data if that information is included in the workout data.
  • Friends and shared workouts: You may connect with other users as "Friends." Friends may have access to limited information you share with them, such as workouts you share, selected workout details, and related summaries. The specific information shared with Friends depends on your sharing settings and what you choose to share.
  • Coaches: You may designate another user or users as your "Coach," or you may be assigned a Coach as part of a coaching relationship. Coaches may have access to all information in your Athalyze account and activity history, including profile information, workouts, performance metrics, and route/location data included in your workout files, to support coaching and analysis.
  • Your controls: You can control whether a workout is public or private, whether and what you share with Friends, and whether you participate in coaching features. You can remove access by changing your visibility and sharing settings, removing Friends, or changing/removing your Coaches. You can also delete workouts or your account (by contacting support) to remove data from the Services, subject to our retention practices.

Please remember that information you choose to make public can be copied, saved, or shared by others. We will update this Privacy Policy as social and sharing features evolve.

5. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes such as security, compliance, and dispute resolution. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and how it is used.

  • Account and workout data: generally retained while your account is active.
  • Diagnostics/log data: retained for a limited period for troubleshooting and security purposes.
  • Backups: data may remain in backups for a limited time after deletion before being overwritten.

6. Your Choices and Rights

  • Profile updates: You can update certain account/profile information in the Services.
  • Connected services: You can disconnect third-party services at any time. Disconnecting stops new data from being imported from that service going forward.
  • Route/location data: If your uploaded/imported files include route data, you may be able to delete the underlying activity to remove it from Athalyze.
  • Access / deletion requests: Athalyze does not currently offer in-app account deletion. You may request access to or deletion of your account information by contacting us at support@athalyze.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests.
  • Marketing opt-out: If we send marketing emails, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link in those emails.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Users

The Services are hosted in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

9. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
